About Therapy

Sometimes we encounter challenging life obstacles and can find ourselves feeling distressed, isolated, or stuck in unhealthy patterns. When these difficulties arise, we may bravely reach out for support and guidance from a counselor. I consider it a privilege to partner with my clients as they deepen self-awareness, achieve new insight, and work toward building the life they desire for themselves.

I believe therapy should be about you and what's most important to you. In sessions, I form a therapeutic alliance with my clients in which we work together on the issues that matter most to them. I provide a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental space where you are free to express your concerns, explore your fears, and work toward healing.

Existential Therapy:

I use an Existential approach when counseling. Existential therapy is a non-directive, philosophical approach that utilizes several defining strategies to help clients discover their unique means of dealing with personal challenges. This form of treatment is not focused on a specific outcome, but rather a greater the understanding of self.

In sessions, I will partner with you to help you understand unconscious conflicts, identify ineffective coping mechanisms, and address anxiety. We will explore the ways you in which assign meaning to the events that happen in your life and work together to empower you to process difficult emotions in a way that enables you to create the existence you want for yourself.

Play Therapy

When working with children, I utilize Play Therapy. The Association for Play Therapy explains that toys are the child's words and play is the child's language. Children may struggle to find the words to express what they are thinking or feeling. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Play Therapy allows children to express themselves in a way that feels natural for them in their own time. This type of therapy also allows children to take an active role in sharing their feelings and working through problems.

In session, I strive to create a safe environment where your child can feel accepted, empowered, and understood as we work toward reaching his/her individual treatment goals.
